Occasionally I also have photo-ready baskets filled with vintage dishes, linens, copper mugs, and magic wishes (see below)...but that hardly applies.
1. Contribution: what we are giving to the world (work, volunteering, etc)
2. Connection: Our relationship with ourselves and others
3. Vitality: How we take care of ourselves
....and in order to achieve balance & success in our lives we need to fill all three baskets, equally. The tendency, however, is to focus on one basket, while negelecting the others to some degree.
The big take-home? The most full basket will always be limited by the least full basket.
When I treat women struggling to lose weight or improve energy or eat the "healthiest" diet possible, they are almost always obsessively focused on their vitality basket. In their words, they are "doing everything right" and can't seem to drop the pounds or make the progress.
The problem? They're ignoring their other baskets.
The solution: take a break from the health hypervigilance and focus on other areas of life. EXPERIMENT!! Spend more time with favourite people, share a bottle of wine, take a nap, find a way to give back to the community....and see what happens:)
